Many Timmies that start with privacy related topics get into self-hosting, grab a VPN subscription, and then de-Google their lifes. While I would consider this absolutely based and excellent for a start, most people take the absolute wrong route for this. Lets say you want to buy a VPS to host a website, or a VPN to not share your IP with that porn site you are so addicted to. How do you choose such a service?

Well Timmy, I'm glad you fucking asked. You beautiful boy. You make me proud.

I can not stress enough how important it is to read the terms of service and the privacy policy of any service BEFORE you use it. Most services are as vague as possible, but will say something like 'use minimal and decrypted data for you to share with third parties'. THAT IS RED FLAG TIMMY BOY! They are glowing bright as fuck. Is it the Americans? The Russians? The Chinese? No fucking clue Timmy, but they are on to you!

Another enormous factor is the country where the service resides. You should take into account where the head quarters are located, its sister locations, and where the data is stored. If you are too lazy to research this, and just search for something along the lines of 'Good Privacy Respecing Countries' most fucking results will tell you the following fucking nations:

There are issues with this list. Sweden is reknowned for hosting fucking 'The Pirate Bay' and 'WikiLeaks'. Those people have been hunted down Timmy! We all know why. Sweden is part of the European Union. Those countries work together very swiftly, especially fucking Sweden, so if you live in the European Union you should not route anything via Sweden Timmy!

Then there is Iceland. Iceland is not part of the European Union. This is because other countries want to fucking ruin their fishing. They also had some serious fucking issues with the Netherlands and the United Kingdom over a financial instution going bankrupt and basically telling the countries Iceland is not responbsible for it. Anyway, they do hold good relations with the EU and are part of the Schengen agreement and the European Economic area. However, this does mean that they are not as close to your EU country's government Timmy! Fucking beautiful. Moreover, they are famous for hosting shit in their datacenters that other parties don't want them to host. I am very skeptical as to why people promote all these icelandic services but never provide arguments as to why though. So do your own fucking research Timmy. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably fucking is.

Holy fuck Timmy I finally got to the part I wanted to talk about: the fucking Swiss. The fucking Swiss are notorious for hiding fucking Nazi gold and providing tax evasion services. Now this sounds fucking based but in reality it is all schmuck! These fuckers are changing their laws as we speak Timmy! It was all a fucking lie! It was a cover for the glowiest of glows. Even the biggest honeypot of all time, Proton (known for Proton Mail, Proton VPN etc), is leaving Switzerland and moving into the EU. Now, that obviously might be an excuse and they might have been paid by some foreign company for their data. I mean they have been making really weird moves lately and I am sure I will write a post about it someday, but still it is noteworthy. I would not trust any company based in Switzerland right now as you can expect an email in two months time that they change their terms of service and privacy policy in compliance with the new laws. It fucking smells like some glowy shit here Timmy, and I do not like it. BeeFucker1987 out.
